Research Profile

Magdalena Tyndyk

Biography

Dr. Magdalena Tyndyk holds MSc in Biomedical Engineering from Wroclaw University of Technology and PhD in Biomechanical Engineering from National University of Ireland, Galway in computational biomechanics. In 2004, she was awarded an ‘Irish Research Council for Science and Engineering Technology’ Embark Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme to pursue research in bone tissue engineering in the National Centre for Biomedical Engineering Science at NUIG. Her research was focused on assessment of SLS fabricated bone scaffolds for spinal applications. After completing her research contract in NCBES, she went to work in the Galway Medical Technologies Centre (GMedTech) at Galway Mayo Institute of Technology, where she was involved in supporting the strategic development and growth of the research activities within the GMedTech. In February 2009, she joined the Medical Engineering, Design and Innovation Centre (MEDIC) at Cork Institute of Technology. In her role as a Postdoctoral Research Coordinator, she developed and expanded MEDIC Motion Analysis Laboratory. In addition, she was involved in numerous R&D activities in MEDIC Centre cooperating with industry partners in the area of medical devices and technologies. She also initiated and fostered multiple relationships with national and international academic researchers, clinicians and local health care providers, medical device companies and entrepreneurs. She was actively involved in writing research proposals to support the strategic development and growth of the MEDIC research programmes. Dr. Tyndyk joined School of Food & Nutritional Sciences, UCC in May 2014 as a PRTLI Cycle 5 Programme Manager.
